Web Browsers
This website is designed using HTML5 and JQuery - this means that it requires a modern browser to experience full functionality.
The website has been tested with modern versions of Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, FireFox, Chrome, Safari and Opera. It has also been tested with previous versions of browsers, but more advanced visual and interactive features will be disabled.
If you have JavaScript disabled in your browser, certain interactive features will not be available.
This website uses cookies to aid in interactive content and navigation. For all parts of the website that require login, you must enable cookies.
Slide Viewers
There is information on how to use digital slide viewing software in the public section of the website. The points below relate to the compatibility of those viewers on different systems.
Leica-Aperio WebScope
The default viewer built into our website uses Adobe Flash to view digital slides. Therefore, the viewer needs Adobe Flash installed on your machine. This is compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac machines. However, Adobe FLash is not supported by most mobile devices, and so will not work on phones and tablets.
Leica-Aperio ImageScope
ImageScope is a desktop application developed for Windows machines only. It will not work with Mac or Linux computers. You can download the software for free from the Leica website
Leeds Virtual Microscope
The Leeds Virtual Microscope software (LVM) is specialist research software developed at the University of Leeds. The software itself is currently only available for Leeds researchers, and support information for this product is included with the software installation.
Mobile Users
The web-based slide viewing pages on our website use Adobe Flash, and therefore will not work on mobile devices. We are currently experimenting with JavaScript based technologies, but currently do not use them on our site. iPad and iPhone users may use the Lecia-Aperio ePathology App to browse our website and view slides on their devices.
This website has been designed with a responsive layout, which means it adapts it's appearance depending on the device and screen size being used. We cannot test the website on all devices and screen sizes, so if you encounter any issues, please contact us.
