Diseased Skin

The cells within the skin that gives it pigment as is responsible for skin darkening in the sun or getting a ‘tan’ are called melanocytes and are normally found in the area where the epidermis and dermis meet.

When these melanocytes start to ignore the rest of the body and grow out of control this can lead to a type of skin cancer called melanoma.
