  • Female, 12 years old
  • Clinical details:
    Following pain in the thigh for 2 months, she was found to have a tumour deep to the gluteus medius muscle. A biopsy was taken. X-ray examination showed multiple metastases in lung; and she developed paraplegia and died at home 8 months from the onset.
  • Diagnosis:
    Cellular poorly differentiated osteosarcoma with distinct osteoid trabeculae in places.
  • Review diagnosis:
    Osteosarcoma - osteoid seams are very few!
