Male 43 years

Left testis tumour. LDH raised. Multiple mets.



Specimen: Left testis.

Macro: Left radical orchidectomy. Size of testis: 17 x 13 x 11 cm. Size of tumour: 13.5 x 12 x 12 cm. Solid, yellow tumour with necrosis.

Immunohistochemistry:
reveals strong positivity for inhibin, Calretinin, Melan-A and vimentin. Germ cell tumour markers (OCT3/4, SALL4, HCG, AFP, Glypican 3), epithelial markers and S-100 are negative. The Ki-67 proliferation rate is approximately 5-10%.

Q 02

Male 80 years

Biopsy proven TCC right ureter -poorly functioning kidney - right nephrouretectomy.



Specimen: Nephrouretectomy.

Macro: 402 g specimen of kidney with fat overall 135 x 55 85 mm with 180 mm ureter, the kidney itself 97 x 60 x 40 mm. No residual ureteric lesion seen macroscopically. Only finding was incidental 10 x 7 mm well circumscribed yellow lesion renal cortex showing focal haemorrhagic areas. (Note - no residual TCC either macroscopically or microscopically in ureter- presumed removed by previous biopsy).

Immunohistochemistry:
Vimentin, CD10, CK7, RCC, Carbonic anhydrase, EMA - positive.

Specimen: TURP.

Macro: Prostate chips weighing 75g.

PSAP strongly positive, PSA weakly positive.

Macro: Two fragments of tissue measuring 3 and 4mm.

Male 81 years

Right renal tumour.



Specimen: Right partial nephrectomy.

Macro: A partial nephrectomy specimen measuring 50 x 45 x 21 mm. On sectioning, there is a dark brown, well circumscribed tumour mass measuring 23 x 19 x 16 mm.

Immunohistochemistry:
Diffuse membranous staining for CD117, CK 7 mainly negative, CD 10 negative, vimentin negative. Hale's colloidal iron stain equivocal.

Haematuria; CTU showed bladder diverticulum confirmed on cystoscopy.

Macro: Several tan coloured fragments, measuring in aggregate 25 mm across.

Mass in left testis.



Specimen: Left Orchidectomy.

Macro: Testis measuring 50x40x35 mm with attched spermatic cord measuring 65 mm in length x up to 25mm. Slicing the specimen reveals a solid pale brown tumour that measures 35x25 mm.

Macro: Grey brown fragments weighing 6 gram.

Specimen: Right radical laproscopic nephrectomy.

Macro: 82mm sized upper pole solid brown lesion. No scarring seen. No involvement of renal vein or extension into capsular fat or sinus fat.

Tumour shows diffuse CK7 positivity, CD10 is negative.
