Male 49 years

Right kidney tumour.



Specimen: Right partial nephrectomy.

Macro: A wedge of kidney measuring 35x30x25mm. The surgical resection is inked red and the opposite is inked black. The renal capsule also contains attached perinephric fat. On serial slicing, a yellowish solid tumour is identified measuring approximately 25x18x13mm. The tumour is just 1mm from the inked red margin. All submitted.

Immunohistochemistry:
Not performed.

Male 64 years

L renal tumour with LN enlargement, suspected RCC.



Specimen: Left kidney.

Macro: Kidney 145 x 120 x 110 mm with nodular pale tumour with whorled cut surface, 140 mm maximum. Tumour centred on renal hilum and compresses renal parenchyma without definite parenchymal invasion. Tumour present in renal blood vessels. Small foci of necrosis. Normal ureter and adrenal. No lymph nodes present.

Immunohistochemistry:
AE1-AE3 and desmin included.

Male 33 years

Orchidectomy.



Specimen: Orchidectomy.

Macro: Radical orchidectomy specimen 68x50x46mm. On the sectioning there is grey solid tumour measuring 44mm in greatest diameter and it is limited to the testis.

Immunohistochemistry:
The tumour cells express SALL-4. Expressions of Oct3/4 and PLAP are not present in tumour cells and in the seminiferous tubules.

Enlarged left testis. No recent trips abroad.



Specimen: Left testis.

Macro: Left testis and spermatic cord. The testis was enlarged and measured 50 x 40 x 20 mm. Bivalving the testis revealed a tan cut surface in which there were grey mottled areas.

Immunohistochemistry:
Oct 3/4, PLAP and MNF116 Negative. ZN and PAS-D Negative.

Male 42 years

Patient of African origin presenting with haematuria. On imaging has metastatic disease.



Specimen: Right nephrectomy.

Macro: The tumour measures 100mm and appears as a solid tan to white coloured well-defined lobulated tumour, with focal myxoid and cystic areas. There is invasion of renal sinus fat.

Immunohistochemistry:
Positive for PAX8, CK7, CAM 5.2, CEA and vimentin. There is focal positivity for OCT3/4, 34BetaE12 and p63. Tumour cells are negative for CK20, GATA3 and Racemase.
