Case 01

Female 4 years

Patient with defective enamel affecting ULABCD, ULA and B not fully erupted and ULA very angled towards the lip. ULA and B buccal sinuses, no history of trauma. This section is a decal section of 1 of the 2 submitted teeth.

Specimen: Deciduous tooth.

Macroscopic description:
Two incisor deciduous teeth 10x5x5mm and 10x6x5mm. Both have pitted enamel with faint white and brown speckles. Length of the root is in keeping with resorption. The root surfaces are slightly irregular. The slightly larger tooth has bulging enamel at the cervical portion buccally and palatally.

Case 02

Female 72 years

Widespread white patches and ulceration to buccal mucosa, gingival tissue, dorsal tongue. No relief from steroid mouthwash or tablet.

Specimen: Left buccal mucosa, incisional biopsy.

Macroscopic description:
A piece of mucosa measuring 7 x 4 mm.

Immunohistochemistry:
IgG direct immunofluorescence showed intercellular/basketweave expression.

Male 19 years

Fluctuant, translucent cystic lesion. Lower labial mucosa. D/D: Mucocele.

Specimen: Soft tissue lesion lower labial mucosa.

Macroscopic description:
An ellipse of mucosa measuring 8 x 6 mm with an underlying cystic structure 12 x 8 x 8 mm. Longitudinally bisected.

Female 30 years

Significant gingival swelling ~1.5 cm x 1.5 cm. Interprox. 44, 45. No bony pathology noted.

Specimen: Recurrence of calcifying fibrous epulis (R) mandible gingivae interprox. 44, 45 extending lingually.

Macroscopic description:
A greyish-cream nodule of mucosa measuring 18 x 8 x 10 mm. Bisected longitudinally.

6-month history swelling right mandible, firm. Bony expansion right buccal sulcus. ? Odontogenic tumour / aneurysmal bone cyst.

? Branchial cleft cyst in 2020, aspirated to dryness, not recurred in 2 years. ? Cyst.

Specimen: Left level II, subcutaneous tissue.

Macroscopic description:
A piece of soft tissue measuring 41 x 10 x 8 mm. Surface inked blue. Serially sliced. The cut surfaces show areas of fibrosis, yellowish-cream soft tissue, and haemorrhage. All processed.
