Biopsy mass left maxilla. Solid swelling with calcification. Slowly increasing in size. Associated with teeth and bulging into antrum. ? odontogenic tumour.

24 x 22 x 17 mm soft tissue piece with a circumscribed solid tan lesion on the cut surface.

Immunohistochemistry:
Actin and focally desmin positive. No staining with cytokeratin, S100 or B-catenin. CD68 stains giant cells.

Intact, thin walled cyst measuring 44 x 34 x 29 mm. On slicing, this unilocular cyst contains yellow serous fluid. No solid areas are present.

Tumour cells positive with AE1/3, CD56, chronogranin A, synaptophysin, BCL-2 and Ber-Ep4. Proliferation rate 5-10%. The following markers are negative: CK5, CK7, CK20, p40, p63, S-100, SMA and vimentin.

Large nasal mass, tumour is negative with pan-cytokeratin and S-100 and is positive for desmin and caldesmon.
