Appendix. Ileitis RIF pain. Grossly normal appendix removed.

Macro: appendix 55x20 with diameter 7mm, macroscopically normal.

Male 49 years

Large intestine. Diarrhoea. Diverticula. 4mm pale rectal sessile polyp 15cm above anal verge.

Macro: rectal polyp - a polypoid piece of tissue 0.7cm.

Specials: CD56, chromogranin, synaptophysin, AE1/AE3 all positive. Ki67 <2%positivity.

Male 48 years

Stomach. Three benign pedunculated polyps measuring up to 20mm in size in gastric antrum. One excised and retrieved.

Macro: gastric polyp. 26mm maximum dimension with 3mm stalk. Very friable.

Male 34 years

Oesophagus. Oesophageal cyst removed - most likely duplication cyst.

Macro: specimen measuring 60x35x25mm comprising fibrous nodular tissue with haemorrhagic external surface. Slicing reveals a semi solid haemorrhagic light brown cut surface.

Specials: S100, MNF116, CD117, Desmin negative perivascular cells positive for SMA and Caldesmon. Pericellular positivitiy for collagen IV and laminin. Cd34 highlights endothelial cells.

Female 65 years

Gall bladder.

Macro: opened gall bladder 40x21x22mm. Mucosa is smooth. Small calculi noted. The wall is 6mm.

Male 73 years

Stomach. Gastric cancer on upper GI endoscopy.

Macro: six pieces of tissue, the largest measures 5x3mm and the smallest measures 2x2mm.

Specials: positive - CD20, CD79a, BCL2, BCL6 and MUM1 negative - CD5, CD10, CD15, CD43, Tdt, cyclin D1, CAM5.2, S100. Occasional positive CD30.

Female 16 years

Appendix. Appendicectomy.

Macro: a swollen appendix with a solid bright yellow tumour measuring 10x8mm at its proximal end. Distal to the tumour the appendix contained round white, pearl like pellets.

Specials: chromogranin and synaptophysin positive.

Female 65 years

Pancreas. Cystic lesion body / tail of pancreas therefore laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy.

Macro: tail of pancreas 70mm in length and 25mm in diameter. Sectioning reveals a multiloculated fluid filled cyst 40mm in diameter.

Female 71 years

Large intestine. Subtotal colectomy. Acute colitis, colonoscopic perforation.

Macro: Subtotal colectomy 6cm of terminal ileum, 56cm of large bowel. Multiple mucosal tears.

Male 66 years

Large intestine. Segmented resection (palliative) for obstructing tumour descending colon with extensive liver metastases.

Macro: descending colon 90mm in length 25mm from one margin a polypoid tumour 28x26x12mm obstructing the lumen.

Appendix. Subtotal colectomy for obstructing carcinoma of descending colon. Section of appendix.

Female 65 years

Appendix. Sweet's syndrome and lumbo-peritoneal shunt for CSF rhinorrhoea. CT showed collection of fluid in lower abdomen possibly related to shunt. Abnormal appendix - appendicectomy.

Female 22 years

Appendix. Amenorrhoea and weight gain. Also has acanthosis nigricans. Enlarged appendix.

Female 60 years

Appendix. Irritable bowel syndrome and weight loss. CT suggested ileocaecal Crohn's.
