Small intestine: Longstanding Crohn's disease. Previous resection / stricturoplasties. Length of chronically diseased ileum resected. No overt active disease.

Macro: A 49cm length of small bowel. Normal external surface. On opening several concentric mucosal narrowings of the lumen 2 to 5 cm apart with ulceration on the apex of several of these

Macro: 22cm of terminal ileum and 10cm of large bowel with attached 7cm long appendix. Small bowel showed cobble stoning with ulcers. Appendix and large bowel unremarkable. Section from appendix submitted.

Macro: A gall bladder 60mm in length and up to 15mm in diameter. Wall thickness 4mm, two gallstones 15 and 19mm in diameter.

Macro: Right hemicolectomy and separate small bowel resection Coiled mass of dusky ischemic and haemorrhagic small bowel at least 600mm long. 2 nodules of pale tumour in ileum with abscess and nodal mass in mesentery. Block 13=ileal nodule. Appendix normal
