Large intestine. Polyp at appendiceal orifice. Not suitable for endoscopic resection so right hemicolectomy.

Macro: Right hemicolectomy specimen with 170mm large bowel, 40mm small bowel and an appendix 40mm long. At the appendic orifice there is a 15mm polyp (submitted section). 3 other polyps in ths caecum/right colon.

Macro: 17mm polyp trisected.

Small intestine. Large attached GIST tumour of small bowel.

Macro: Lobulated semi cystic tumour 140x100x70mm attached to small bowel.

Specials: tumour cells DOG1 positive, negative for CD117, CD34, S100, CD138 and cytokeratin.

Male 49 years

Large intestine. Colon Subtotal colectomy for Infliximab resistant colitis.

Macro: Specimen labelled 'COLON'. Subtotal colectomy comprising: stump of terminal ileum; appendix caecum and colon Towards the distal end the wall appears thickened. The mucosal surface is irregularly ulcerated with thicker areas and thinner areas, with some haemorrhage throughout the entire length of the specimen.

Male 75 years

Large intestine. Robotic right hemicolectomy. Right colon carpet polyp - indeterminate.

Macro: Starting from 13mm proximal to the proximal resection margin, there is a carpet of multiple mucosal sessile, polypoidal lesions, 5mm-25mm, extending right to the distal resection margin. On palpation, these "polyps" appear spongy and serial sectioning showed multiple variable sized, air-filled submucosal cystic spaces.

Female 72 years

Oesophagus. Oesophagectomy. Malignant looking mass from 29 - 31cm.

Macro: Oesophagogastrectomy. Tumour 30mm long. The tumour has a clearance of at least 55 mm from the proximal resection margin and 145mm from the gastric resection margin.

Specials: Previous biopsy immunohistochemistry - CK14 and p63 positive. BEREP4 and Synaptophysin negative.

Male 60 years

Stomach. Laparoscopic resection of 2.5cm tumour of gastric wall (antrum) ?GIST.

Macro: Gastric wall measuring 45x30x21mm. There is a prominent well circumscribed tan firm mass in the outer aspect of the wall measuring 25x23x14mm. The mucosa is macroscopically unremarkable.

Specials: S100 (diffusely positive), GFAP and D2-40 (focally positive) Negative for AE1/3, CD34, CD117, DOG1, CD56, calretinin, HMB45, Melan A

Male 69 years

Small intestine. Perforated small bowel with tumour. One day history of LIF pain. Sigmoid diverticulosis.

Macro: A segment of small bowel measuring 385mm containing an exophytic perforated tumour 85mm in diameter. There is fibrinous exudate on the serosal surface. On sectioning, the tumour is seen encompassing almost the entire circumference of the bowel wall.

Specials: Tumour is positive S100, Melan A and HMB45. It is negative for LCA, AE1/AE3 and CD30.

Female 30 years

Large intestine. Caecal tumour.

Macro: Right hemicolectomy: 55mm tumour like wall thickening in caecum. Overlying mucosa normal.
