Young female, right ovarian dermoid cyst removed at caesarean section, section from dermoid cyst.

Case 6

Female 65 years

Incidental Lower neck lump, no compressive symptoms initially, then became symptomatic. Probable family history of goitre (grandmother). U3/4. Thy3a. Nodular thyroid intra-operatively with no concerning features.

Macroscopic description:
38x29x36mm well circumscribed but unencapsulated solid cream coloured tumour abutting capsular margins, 2mm clear of isthmic margin. Vague brown mottling suggestive of haemorrhage.


Case 7

Female 38 years

Excision of thyroglossal duct cyst. Brown cystic nodule, 35mm IME with hyoid bone attached. Mucinous material on surface, ?from cyst. On sectioning the cyst appears multiloculated and contains colloid like material.

Female 46 years

Thyroid tumour with lymph node, bone and liver metastases. Total thyroidectomy and bilateral neck dissections.

Female age unknown

Hyperparathyroidism, left inferior parathyroid gland - piece of irregular brown tissue 27mm IME, 0.96g, Bisected. All In.


Case 10

Female 68 years

Presented in 2011 with a nodule in the left thyroid lobe. Initial FNA Thy3, Thy5. Underwent left hemithyroidectomy with completion right hemithyroidectomy and RAI.
