Female 69 years

Uterus. Hysterectomy for prolapse. Section of corpus.

Macroscopic description:
Uterus and cervix 102x60x42mm. Cervix appears normal, os measures 11mm and is transverse. Serosal surfaces are smooth other than two sub-serosal fibroids 20 and 12mm. On slicing the endometrium is up to 1mm thick and the myometrium up to 18mm. On further slicing several intramural fibroids are observed, largest 20mm, smallest 4mm - some of which are calcified.

Tissue from C-section scar. Excised endometrial tissue from C-section scar during LSCS. Palpable lumps, MRI suggested endometrial origin.

Macroscopic description:
Multiple pieces fibro fatty tissue weighing 110g and ranging in size from 20mm to 90mm maximum. Sectioning shows areas of congestion.

Fibro fatty breast tissue weighing 106g with poorly defined, rounded tumour 38mm in maximum extent. White, yellow and haemorrhagic areas noted.

Ovary. 5cm dermoid cyst on ultrasound scan. Specimen removed piecemeal through laparoscopy ports. Part of lesion TTF1 +ve, part CD56 and synaptophysin +ve.

Right ovarian cyst wall consisting of multiple pieces of tissue 40mm in aggregate.
