Red swollen left index finger discharging white chalky material. X-ray appearances of chronic osteomyelitis. Phalanx destroyed.

Male 73 years

Right adrenal mass seen on ultrasound in a patient with previous TCC bladder. Initial needle biopsy was performed and a diagnosis was suggested. Patient was investigated further and the adrenal was removed. Gland weighed 25g. Cut surface showed a well defined unencapsulated mass 30 mm across. Synaptophysin, chromogranin and NSE are positive. Occasional scattered cells show positive nuclear staining for S100 protein. Negative cytokeratin and epithelial membrane antigen.

Case W12

Female 47 years

Pelvic mass. At laparotomy a diagnosis of left ovarian cancer with multiple peritoneal seedlings was made. The ovarian mass and a peritoneal biopsy were sent. Patient admitted to HDU in very poor state. Received an ill-defined mass 55 x 50 x 25mm with a yellow grey necrotic cut surface with adherent distorted fallopian tube. Representative section of mass

Male 77 years

Recurrent left hydrocele. Hard testis. Left orchidectomy to exclude neoplasm. Macroscopically a partly cystic partly solid lesion was identified infiltrating tunica and epididymis.

Female 76 years

Bladder biopsy. Patient had previous carcinoma of bladder. Lesional cells are strongly positive for CAM5.2, CK7 and show focal positivity for 34BE12 and focal intracytoplasmic mucin with D-PAS. LCA(CD45), CD79a, CD3 and CK20 were negative. Light chains showed some background staining, probably negative in tumour cells.

Urine retention with mass on per-rectal examination. Biopsy from tumour, lower rectum 1.2 x 0.5cm.

Case W16

Male 58 years

Known myeloma. Had chemotherapy and autologous bone marrow transplant. Multiple subcutaneous nodules all over body for three weeks ? Kaposi's sarcoma.

Macroscopic description:
A skin ellipse measuring 2 x 0.4cm with subcutaneous tissue to a depth of 1.3cm. On sectioning, there was a firm light brown area measuring 1.2cm within the subcutaneous tissue.

Immunohistochemistry:
CD79a positive, S100 negative.
